The Opportunity

At Abbott, our Heart Failure division is recruiting a Senior MEMS Development Engineer in Atlanta, GA, to drive the future roadmap of the CardioMEMS portfolio, to take a product already changing tens of thousands of lives, to a completely other level. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Product development for next-generation implantable sensors

  • Ensure high-quality, reliable, and manufacturable designs

  • Drive and lead the development of the next generation product, including design, requirements definition, design documentation, and product testing, verification, and validation

  • Help to drive the sensor design, fabrication, and system integration efforts throughout the product development cycle

  • Design, develop, and test MEMS sensor prototypes and designs

  • Design and conduct experiments to enhance sensor performance and reliability

  • Create custom test setups for prototype characterization

  • Assess and select necessary equipment and tools for production as per sensor specifications

  • Perform analytical modeling and FEM simulations of designs

  • Drive the effort for conception/prototyping, through development, to production and launch

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Materials), or a related discipline

  • 3-5 years of relevant industry experience in semiconductor/MEMS device development and production

  • Demonstrated expertise in process development, optimization, design of experiments methodology, and statistical data analysis

  • Skilled in programming, mathematical modeling and simulations using engineering software

  • Proficiency in mechanical design with SolidWorks and 3D printing

  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management abilities

  • Highly self-motivated with the capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (PhD or Master’s) in Engineering or related fields

  • Deep fundamental understanding and hands-on experience of advanced microelectronics packaging concepts (die-attach, pick-and-place, wire bonding, flip-chip, wafer bonding, encapsulation, etc.)

  • Experience transitioning MEMS or semiconductor devices from development to production for development of MEMS

  • Experience with Class III implantable medical devices

The base pay for this position is $72,700.00 – $145,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
