Summary, Focus and Purpose

As part of Our Company's Supply Chain organization at the Manufacturing facility in Worthington, MN, the Senior Supply Chain Specialist | Planning & Scheduling will be accountable for the creation of production schedules that aligns with the product demand forecast and market requirements. You will plan workloads and schedule operations for the Operations team, which will also include the creation of production and process orders for operations, scheduling, and oversight of procurement of materials to enable schedules, and working closely with internal and external suppliers as well as customers to ensure timely deliveries.

This position is responsible for monitoring inventory levels at all nodes in the supply chain ensuring sufficient inventory to support manufacturing operations while managing inventory in line with financial targets. Candidates will need to possess and demonstrate strong planning skills and experience in an SAP planning environment.

Key Functions

  • Responsible for defining, planning, and coordinating the scope of services provided within the Department of Supply Chain Management

  • Oversee the planning functions to ensure business processes/systems and metrics are in place to monitor the performance of Midterm planning | Shop floor scheduling | SAP master data accuracy | Inventory management | Capacity Constraints

  • Actively involved in establishing and communicating the organizations strategy and related goals for the business

  • As necessary, provide hands-on management to resolve issues affecting customers or cross-functional conflicts of priorities

  • Frequent interaction with marketing and manufacturing to coordinate and implement decisions regarding forecasting and inventory controls

  • Review planning metrics to continuously improve customer value (Internal and external)

  • Initiate, participate, and document Value Stream Mapping activities

  • Manage projects using good project management skills to establish and improve supply chain management

  • Focus on maximizing customer value through total quality/continuous improvement initiatives to ensure stability in business and production processes, reducing lead times, improving the quality of both products and services and in reducing costs

  • Work with all departments on site in order to ensure that supply chain metrics are sustained, and performance is maintained at targeted levels

  • Present routine metrics to site and site leadership: Schedule stability (i.e. Production issues, forecast inaccuracies, etc.)

  • Make visible product supply status and future risks to supply

  • Ensure that site management is informed of capacity constraints that may impact product supply

  • Participate in addressing and resolving plant capacity issues

  • Actively participate and represent the manufacturing site in New-Product Introductions

  • Ensuring sufficient internally and externally sourced materials are available and released to meet all customer demands as well as upstream and downstream processes

  • Working closely with various teams in Elkhorn, Millsboro, Worthington, DeSoto and Ames to ensure bulk batches are released and available for production when needed and fill batches are released and available for shipment to customers

  • Communicating supply delays to colleagues and plant director and working to resolve issues

  • Managing the Inventory of Questionable Value (IQV) process for product set | Gathering information from site input departments and updating the IQV tool in SAP |

  • Reviewing the production schedule and Materials Requirement Planning outputs; making adjustments and interacts with supply network planning | Manages SAP master data, updating safety stock and reorder points

  • Monitoring inventory levels to avoid excess inventory, inventory shortages and/or inventory expiry

  • Supporting the annual profit planning and budgeting process

  • Be a resource person, resolves problems and instructs others when priorities need to change

Education

  • Bachelor's degree within Business, Science or Engineering

Required Experience | Skills | Knowledge

  • Five years experience working in a GMP regulated sterile vaccine manufacturing environment

  • Strong and principled verbal and written communications

  • Strong experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), preferably SAP

  • Previous knowledge of Planning and Purchasing processes as well as Materials Requirements Planning (MRP)/Materials Production Scheduling (MPS) principles and methodologies

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Team player with a strong positive attitude and the ability to maintain focus in difficult problem-solving situations

  • Effective planning, organizational, documentation and communication skills to ensure alignment of customers’ needs relative to site output

  • Capable of managing and re-evaluating the production plan under very dynamic circumstances

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team and manage complex projects and tasks

  • Produces/completes various assignments requiring analytical ability, independent judgment, creativity and problem-solving skills
